Ruby poured the soup slowly, taking her time. Finally, she finished and took a deep breath, then slowly returned to her seat with the soup in her hand. She turned and smiled as she offered the bowl to Steve.

Steve glanced at the soup in the bowl without moving his gaze, looked up at Ruby, and showed no intention of reaching out to take it..
