The RoFan Novel Fan Has Reincarnated Into A Martial Arts Novel
Chapter 4: I Don’t Want To Live Like That Anymore

“Then, let the fight begin!”

As the fight commenced, a groan escaped from Hwangbo Jeonggun’s mouth as he watched his daughter.

“Yeon……”

Amidst the chaotic atmosphere, Hwangbo Jeonggun appeared pale and shaky. He involuntarily swayed in posture, his calf muscles tensed and ready to jump at a moment’s notice.

Yeon remained focused solely on the opponent in front of her, disregarding her father’s condition and the surrounding gazes. She took light steps in place, concentrating on the upcoming fight.

Meanwhile, Paeng Donghu observed Yeon’s movements, loosening his arms and taking slow steps. He sneered at her, seeming to mock her efforts.

“I wonder how I should defeat you. I mean……”

Suddenly, with a mischievous expression, Paeng Donghu charged towards Yeon, spreading his arms wide as if to scare her.

“Do-Don’t! Yeon……”

Hwangbo Jeonggun leaned forward as though he might leap out of his seat any moment, but the unexpected occurred.

Thud!

“Argh!”

After the satisfying sound of a strike, a loud groan echoed through the area. It was Paeng Donghu who let out a yelp, having been hit squarely in the face by Yeon’s precise one-two combination.

His previously immature demeanor was shattered by the sudden attack. His nose throbbed with pain, and his vision became hazy. He was annoyed, above all, by the tears that were now welling up in his eyes after being struck by Yeon’s first punch. This, too, was part of Yeon’s plan.

“You damn bitch……”

Paeng Donghu muttered, his eyes nervously blinking as he tried to regain his composure and focus his eyes. His life was at stake and he didn’t want to miss Yeon’s next moves due to his cloudy eyesight.

Thump, thump. Yeon stomped on the floor rhythmically before leaping out with a cheerful expression. Paeng Donghu raised his arms instinctively, but this time, Yeon aimed her kick at his lower body.

Crack!

Yeon mercilessly kicked Paeng Donghu’s thigh. The trajectory of the kick was low and indicative of modern martial arts. Paeng Donghu, not familiar with this technique, was taken aback.

Despite the availability of techniques aimed at the knee or joint, Yeon chose to attack another area.

Paeng Donghu staggered under the force of Yeon’s continuous punches.

Just as Paeng Donghu believed he had figured out how to distance himself from Yeon’s one-two and low kick, Yeon’s fists poured relentlessly at him.

‘You’re dead, you son of a bitch.’

Paeng Donghu received a precise left uppercut after the sharp one-two combination, which accurately hit his chin. Even a skilled martial artist would have struggled to withstand the shock that reached his brain. Hwangbo Yeon hadn’t even used her internal strength at that moment.

As his head pounded, Paeng Donghu swayed back and forth like a punching bag. He felt his body becoming light, as if he had turned into a rubber man, brimming with elasticity.

‘This is more than what I expected!’

Hwangbo Yeon’s physical abilities were divine. Her movements effortlessly followed her will. She felt sorry for the body’s original owner, but it was like trading in a paddleboat for a jet ski.

Yeon’s exceptional talent lay in her mental prowess, particularly in her innate understanding of combat principles, psychological acumen, and fearless attitude that transcended gender norms.

In essence, it was a synergy of top-notch software and the strongest hardware.

‘Hwangbo Yeon, our compatibility seems to be better than I thought.’

The unfortunate Paeng Donghu, who had become the first test subject, was now seated on the floor and barely conscious.

Yeon contemplated wrapping things up. She feared that if she persisted, a mishap might occur, or perhaps it had already transpired.

“Cease this fight immediately!”

Observing the people from Paeng Clan charging in her direction, Yeon tightened her right fist, causing the energy within her to surge like molten lava through her arm and entire physique.

‘With this, you can reflect on yourself for a while. Then, see you next time, Paeng Donghu.’

Bang!

With a merciless right hook, Hwangbo Yeon struck Paeng Donghu’s face. He collapsed like a deflated balloon, the sound of the impact stunning even the approaching Paeng Clan members.

The scene was unimaginable, a perfect knockout that left everyone shocked. Hwangbo Yeon had done something that couldn’t be undone.

Amidst the stunned silence, Hwangbo Yeon stood tall and surveyed the onlookers. Unlike before the fight started, their expressions seemed more pleasant than before.

“Hehe, since Paeng Donghu was spinning around, it was like watching a spinning top. It’s the perfect analogy.”

Hwangbo Yeon mumbled a joke and patted her hands as if satisfied with herself.

“As expected of a pervert, you’re weak.”

Hwangbo Yeon said coldly before she approached Hwangbo Jeonggun, who was staring at her with bulging eyes as if they were about to burst.

“How was it, Father? Didn’t it go as I said?”

Hwangbo Jeonggun was left speechless, gaping at Hwangbo Yeon who playfully twirled her fist. It was the moment when Hwangbo Yeon’s new story began as a rising star of the Hwangbo Clan, shaking the world of martial arts.

* * *

The unconscious Paeng Donghu was handed over to the Paeng Clan members by Hwangbo Jeonggun. Although the members protested against the outcome of the martial arts fight, their argument lacked sufficient logic since they had witnessed the entire event.

Hwangbo Jeonggun ordered them to leave with a decree of expulsion, which he firmly enforced.

Afterward, Hwangbo Jeonggun swiftly wrote a letter detailing the incident and sent it to the Paeng Clan, suggesting that the engagement should be canceled.

This was the first time Yeon was impressed by Hwangbo Jeonggun. She believed that if he couldn’t even accomplish this, he could not be considered the head of the Hwangbo Clan.

As for Yeon, who caused all of this……

“I feel refreshed after beating him so badly!”

She exclaimed, as she lay sprawled on the bed, rolling around.

She examined her fists, expecting to find some cuts, but she only saw a small amount of blood. Her body was robust, devoid of calluses or bleeding. It felt like a completely different race, even though they were both East Asians.

‘Despite having such milky skin, how is it like this……’

Feeling a faint ache in her hand, Yeon realized again that this was no dream or fantasy. She had truly been transported to a world of martial arts.

She didn’t know if she had to live like this forever or if she could return to the modern world.

After achieving what she had always wanted, Yeon felt a sense of emptiness. Even if it was a world from a novel, it was no different from a delusion.

‘If I can’t go back, do I have to live as Hwangbo Yeon from now on?’

Suddenly, a familiar voice interrupted her thoughts.

“Yeon, can I come in for a moment?”

“Yes.”

Hwangbo Jeonggun walked in with a calm expression on his face, unlike before. It was evident that he had organized his thoughts in his own way.

“Are you feeling alright?”

He asked as he sat down on a chair, his gaze sinking deep. Yeon sensed an uneasy atmosphere but decided to ignore it for the moment.

“I’m fine, but I’m not sure about Paeng Donghu.”

“…Is that so? That’s a relief,” he said, an awkward silence falling between them.

It was evident why Hwangbo Jeonggun had come to see her; he had more than one or two questions on his mind. However, Yeon was feeling complicated emotions and chose to remain silent, which was out of character for her.

After pursing his lips for a while, Hwangbo Jeonggun finally spoke up.

“When did you learn that martial art?”

“Martial art?”

“Yes, the one you showed when you faced Paeng Donghu earlier.”

“Ah, that……”

‘I can’t just tell him it’s boxing, hehe.’ Yeon thought.

“I just practiced alone and made some adjustments to the Five Elements Fist.”

“Really?”

Hwangbo Jeonggun seemed skeptical, but he didn’t outright reject her explanation. Earlier, one of the spectators had said something that Yeon used to add to Hwangbo Yeon’s knowledge of martial arts.

Hwangbo Jeonggun stroked the rough edge of the table with his index finger, indicating his mixed feelings about his daughter’s awakening in the hospital. Yeon had become a completely different person from her former self, which made him happy and confused.

He could have questioned whether it was really his daughter, but Hwangbo Jeonggun didn’t say anything. Instead, he forced a chuckle and loosened his frozen expression.

“Hoho, it seems like my Yeon has changed in Father’s eyes. You’ve been lying down for a long time, so it could happen sometimes. I heard that it can actually happen.”

He attempted to comprehend his daughter’s transformation. Yeon’s heart ached as she watched her doting and concerned father.

From the start, Yeon preferred to keep things simple and straightforward.

After making her decision, she asked directly.

“Honestly, you know it’s not just a small change, is it?”

Hwangbo Jeonggun’s eyebrows twitched, taken aback that she had raised the issue first.

“…Well, that’s true.”

Hwangbo Jeonggun appeared fearful, as if he was worried that his beloved daughter would no longer be the same person he knew.

Nevertheless, Yeon had no intention of causing him any distress or deceiving him. Instead, she wished to be truthful based on Hwangbo Yeon’s memories.

Thus, what Yeon desired to relate was the story that Hwangbo Yeon had never been able to tell.

“It happened when I was young.”

“Huh?”

“I was crying because I didn’t want to learn martial arts, and Father said to me, ‘Training in martial arts is something you must do to protect yourself.’”

“Oh, are you saying you can still remember that?”

Hwangbo Jeonggun asked, surprised. It was an old story, a memory shared only by him, Hwangbo Yeon, and her mother who had passed away when Yeon was young.

“You also said, ‘But if you genuinely hate it, then don’t do it. Father will always be by your side.’”

“……”

“It’s not appropriate to tell the only heiress of the Hwangbo Clan to give up martial arts. I didn’t understand it at the time, but as I grew up, I realized how painful it was to say those words for Father and how big your heart was when you said them.”

In comparison to Yeon’s father in the modern world, Hwangbo Jeonggun was an exceptional person. Yeon even felt a bit envious of this aspect. Her biological father had never made such a statement, not even as a false promise.

“But I persevered and trained hard no matter what. Even if others question the value of learning martial arts that I can never use properly, I know I can’t avoid that criticism in the end.”

Despite her weak temperament, Hwangbo Yeon made a significant effort to overcome it. However, there are inherent characteristics that cannot be altered, and it’s why Yeon could never live like Hwangbo Yeon.

“Yeon, I never thought you would feel that way……”

Hwangbo Jeonggun said, shaking his head. It was a mixture of unexpected revelations and complex emotions. However, he looked up at Yeon’s next words.

“Don’t be sad, Father. Things will be different from now on.”

“What do you mean?”

“Because I don’t want to live like that anymore.”
