Chapter 33 Chapter 33: Wu Hai’s Surprise and Advice

As he expected, when he admitted that the new species was of his own creation, he could feel his teacher’s sudden emotion. He could see how the expression on his teacher’s face turned from solemn to ecstatic.

Wu Hai turned around and looked at the Black-scaled Naga who had slaughtered the Pigmen and were currently cleaning up the battlefield. His eyes were like a pervert looking at the goddess they love the most. He took a deep breath, and when he turned around, the ecstaticness on his face once again reverted to solemnness.

In a low voice, he asked, “Did you condense the Divine Role of Creation?”

Lin Xiao knew why his teacher asked him this question. With the same solemn expression, he nodded.

“Yes. When I become a demigod, I will acquire the extra Divine Role of Creation and the Divine Role for this species.”

“Excellent!”

Wu Hai revealed a smile on his face, gently patted his shoulders and said, “There will be an additional trial later. The Old Principal will activate the Endless mode. Try your best and hold on for as long as you can. The last ten survivors will get a 5-Star Card, and the top three will get a rare card from the Old Principal himself, which include Divine Realm Cards and Profession Cards.”

He paused for a while, and as if he had suddenly thought of something, he had a strange expression on his face when he said, “With the power of these Spawn of yours, you’re already not inferior to Wan Chuan and Yuan Hong in terms of comprehensive strength, ranked at around the 20th place in your year. But I hope that you can hold on until the last three. When that happens, you will come to the Old Principal’s attention. There’s a chance that you may earn a place to partake in the Super Freshmen Summer Camp, and if…”

Wu Hai clearly wasn’t done yet, but Lin Xiao got what he meant almost instantly.

Based on his class teacher’s exaggerated response when he saw the performance of the Black-scaled Naga alone, he knew that the meaning of creating a new species wasn’t him having improved in superficial strength, it was definitely beyond that.

If he could get the Old Principal’s attention, there would definitely be great benefits.

Just that…

He answered solemnly, “I’ll try my best!”

He wasn’t bold enough to provide a resolute answer. Wu Hai stated that his comprehensive strength was in the top 20 yet wanted him to get into the top three.

He would definitely try his very best, but so would the others. Being able to only try his best, he was not confident about ending up in the top three.

At this point, Lin Xiao became a little dejected. With his 500 Naga and more than 2000 Murlocs, he only ranked in the top 20 in his year, not even the top 10. It was true that many concealed talents existed among his contemporaries, stronger than he could ever imagine.

His power wasn’t enough yet. It would be great if he was given a little more time.

However, Lin Xiao wasn’t going to give up yet. Comprehensive strength was superficial. Actual combat would determine who was the best.

His class teacher couldn’t see the specific attributes of the Black-scaled Naga, so he certainly didn’t know about the race’s various Inherent Talents, Expertise, and the limit of the number of upgrades.

Lin Xiao intended to try his best. Even if he failed, there was no need to feel discouraged. After all, rewards would be given to everyone in the top ten. Ending up in the top three would be the best-case scenario, but it didn’t matter. No matter how great the Old Principal’s reward was, could it be better than the school’s reward for the finals?

Obviously not, or else, it would be like wrangling guest robing the place of the host. This was just an elimination match, the appetizer for the final examination. The Old Principal wouldn’t give away rewards that were overly precious.

On a semi plane nearby, Sang Ping, who was full of confidence before the elimination stage, was looking at the semi plane frustratedly, with a pale face, watching the more than 100 Pigmen scattered all over the semi plane and hunting down the less than 100 Spawn that belonged to himself.

Despite being even in numbers, his Spawn were Leprechauns, a small-sized humanoid gremlin. They had a tiny body, ears as pointy as Elves, green eyes, crooked smiles, and were specially equipped with small maces and short javelins.

His preparation was much more complete than Lin Xiao’s, but he was far behind Lin Xiao in terms of the cultivation of his Spawn. After more than 20 years of preparation, he had accumulated more than 1,600 Leprechauns.

At about half the height of the Pigmen, the outcome was obvious. He had done pretty well in the first two waves, losing only about a quarter of his forces. But when the Pigmen came out in the end, the first wave of the assault already had his formations pushed to flight.

1200ish Leprechauns versus 300 Pigmen was already difficult by itself. At critical moments, a small portion of his spawn whose faith wasn’t strong enough fled before the Pigmen’s menace, sealing the deal.

The semi plane was only so big. There was no place which they could escape to.

His Spawn weren’t dead yet, but Sang Ping could already foresee his own defeat.

He, who was usually in the top 20 of his class, couldn’t even pass the elimination round. He could already see the shocked eyes of his classmates when the finals ended.

On another semi plane, more than 30 Gnomes drenched in blood worked together to bring down the last Pigman. All of the Gnomes fell to the ground out of exhaustion. Seen from above, the barren wasteland was full of corpses.

Amid the skies of a semi plane, a golden figure slumped, butt down on the void, stretched out his hands, wiped off his imaginary sweat, and sighed, feeling as if he had survived a disaster.

Such a scenario took place in different semi planes. Some persisted until the end, yet fell short of success, some gave their best and passed barely, some powerful ones still had capacity to spare after slaughtering all the Pigmen, while some planes were already empty at this moment, with their hosts eliminated before the third wave.

On the semi plane where Lin Xiao was, as the last Pigman was taken down, a notice popped up before his eyes.

“Student Lin Xiao, congratulations, you have passed the elimination round of the Tenth-Grade final examination.”

This notice lingered for more than ten seconds, and then a new notice appeared,

“Please make your choice within 15 seconds. You may choose to leave and return now or continue with the bonus challenge. Those who perform well in the bonus challenge will be given additional rewards. The results of the bonus test will not be counted for the results of the elimination round. Should a decision not be made within 15 seconds, the first option will be selected by default.”

A timer appeared after the notice and promptly started the countdown.

Lin Xiao said immediately, “I accept the bonus challenge.”

“The mode of the bonus challenge is, Endless. The challenge will commence in ten minutes. Student Lin Xiao, please prepare yourself.”

“Endless mode?”

He was rather surprised.

The so-called Endless mode was trial without end. Monsters would constantly come out from the portal. The challenge wouldn’t stop until the challenger was killed. This was generally used for extreme challenges.

Of course, this was the easiest way force out the challenger’s absolute power. Whoever could hold on the longest would naturally be the strongest.

Class teacher Wu Hai also received the notice. He patted Lin Xiao on the shoulder cordially and said, “The Old Principal was the one who proposed the Endless mode. Do your best in displaying your potential. I won’t bother you any longer.”

Upon finishing, he took a step backward and exited the semi plane. Giving any further information would be considered a foul.

“I will.”

Lin Xiao nodded. His expression as he looked at the semi plane became solemn. After a moment of pondering, he issued a Sacred Decree to all his Spawns within the semi plane.

“Evil has arisen, darkness is befalling. Brave warriors, I am watching you in Heaven. Pick up your weapons and defeat the evil!”
