Chapter 27 Chapter 27: Final Examination Begins 1

In fact, these domesticated bison could become the Divine Realm’s specialty. He could very well exchange them for other resources from his classmates or sell them for Worship Value.

However, all of Lin Xiao’s classmates in the same grade as him were basically broke. There was nothing he could exchange for, aside from when he used some dried fish to trade for a batch of grass seeds, which the herd was feeding on now.

At present, there was only one week left before the finals.

On this day, Lin Xiao received a notice from his class teacher immediately after he got out of bed.

“Upon deliberation, the school committee has decided that the final examination of tenth grade is scheduled to happen in six days, which is the 25th of June of the year ***. Students are requested to prepare in advance and assemble at the school on the 24th of June, where the content of this year’s final examination will be announced.”

“To be clear, there are only five days left to prepare.”

Lin Xiao stretched out his finger and tapped “confirm,” confirming that he had received the notice.

After some thought, he edited the content, added a few sentences, and forwarded the message to his mother.

In less than a minute, he received his mother’s reply when he was still brushing his teeth.

“Dear son, work hard. I’m counting on you to gain some face during your grandfather’s birthday next month.”

“Ugh!”

Lin Xiao opened his mouth that was full of bubbles. He couldn’t help but think of his cousin living in his eldest uncle’s place who loved to rub his success in Lin Xiao’s face. The corners of his mouth curved up slightly in spite of himself.

“Looks like you’re really looking forward to it!”

He chuckled and replied, “Rest assured, Mom. I’ll definitely give everyone a big surprise.”

“I’ll look forward to it then. After your finals, I’m gonna prepare a surprise for you.”

Six days quickly slipped by. When the time arrived, Lin Xiao, who had been soaking in his Divine Realm to make preparations, left home and went to school.

Dongning City No. 5 Middle School was referred to as the School of Gods and was ranked fifth across Dongning City. Such schools specialized in bringing up newborn Gods, which was different from ordinary schools.

The school was located at the foot of Dongning Mountain outside the city. It was a super large campus covering an area of several million square meters. The several high schools in Dongning City that cultivated Gods were all in various sections of Dongning Mountain.

Different from ordinary schools, students didn’t have to live at school, and they also attended classes from home. Usually, there were very few people in the school. Only on important occasions would students be asked to gather.

Like today’s final examination, it was considered an important occasion.

When Lin Xiao arrived in a flying vehicle, he saw from a distance that the huge school gate was full of flying vehicles. Several students not only came by themselves but also brought their parents.

The flying vehicle stopped at the school gate, and Lin Xiao got off. He raised his head and looked at the school gate, which was several hundred meters high. A huge dragon head was wrapped and hung on the school gate by shining golden chains. Its hideous face was facing the school gate, and its massive pupils were burning in black flames, spreading an aura of suffocating coercion all around as if it were alive.

In fact, it was indeed alive. The head of this giant dragon came from an Abyssal Dragon, whose size was comparable to a demigod, from a certain plane of the bottomless abyss of a crystal shell. After being killed by the school’s first principal, its head was sealed, returned to the Overworld, and placed at the school gate.

A seal of medium Divine Power coupled with the suppression of the powerful laws in the Overworld had this Abyssal Dragon firmly locked up over here. It was unable to move at all.

Lin Xiao looked at this head with envious eyes. If he were to hurl this thing into the Creation Cube and decompose it, tsk tsk…

He couldn’t help but stretch out his hand and touch the saliva at the corner of his mouth. Abruptly turning around, he saw that Yuan Hong had arrived out of the blue. Yuan Hong glanced at the dragon head in front of the school in confusion, glanced at the corner of his mouth that was drooling, and raised the corner of his mouth with disdain.

“F*ck!”

A lifetime of illustrious fame had been destroyed in a moment. It was embarrassing.

Lin Xiao hurriedly wiped of his drool and ran into the school gate.

There was an area of buildings dedicated to the tenth grade. The third class had an independent building with 20 floors all to themselves.

When Lin Xiao arrived at the assembly hall, more than half of his classmates were already there. He greeted Zheng Wenzhuo, the tutor, who was standing by the door and chatting with Meng Hui. His class teacher Wu Hai, on the other hand, hadn’t arrived yet.

He found a random seat and sat down. A classmate next to him leaned over and said in a low voice, “I heard that Wan Chuan successfully condensed his second point of Divinity a few days ago, and his power level has risen by a lot. He may be stronger than Yuan Hong now.”

Lin Xiao glanced at this classmate, who he was not familiar with, in confusion and said, “So? The one who should be worried is Yuan Hong. What does that have to do with me?”

Sang Ping said with a surprised look, “Don’t you want to fight for the Divinity Card from our class teacher?”

He spread his hands and shook his head. “When have I ever said that?”

Sang Ping was bewildered. He scratched his head confusedly and muttered, “Didn’t you get first place in the placement test last time?”

“So? I was just lucky. Do you seriously think that I can get first place again this time?”

“Uhm…”

Sang Ping was speechless, and Lin Xiao ignored him and turned away. He pressed a button on the table with his finger. A screen popped up. Tapping on the screen repeatedly, the window expanded. He pressed his palm for verification, and after the interface changed to the school’s official website, he began to check the school’s notice about the final exam.

Although he wouldn’t accept that he was inferior to the others on the inside, he still had to keep a low profile in front of his classmates. Just like the previous placement test, he wanted to zip across the horizon.

Most of the information on the official website was old; only one new piece of information had been updated. It was about the content of the final examination. He clicked on the post to check it.

After spending a few minutes browsing through all the information, Lin Xiao got a pretty good idea of it.

As in previous sessions, the final exam rules for this session were roughly the same. It was divided into two phases—an elimination phase and a ranking phase.

The elimination phase, as its name implied, would eliminate a portion of students. All students would receive a wave of tests of the same difficulty. If they failed, they would drop out of school immediately after the final exam and wouldn’t even have the chance to be assigned to the Regular Class.

This wasn’t a system unique to No. 5 Middle School, but the entire human civilization was like this. No matter which middle school, some students would be eliminated after tenth grade.

It was all because of the allocation of resources. As the school would need to invest far more resources in eleventh-grade students than tenth-grade students, given the school’s limited resources, it could only cultivate elites, and those with poor grades could only drop out and seek out a living elsewhere.

Of course, even if someone dropped out of school, they were divine beings, after all. Being way better than ordinary people, they would live a pretty good life wherever they went.

For example, one could join a large private civilian team to go out on adventures. Without the school’s restrictions, one could quickly grow to a certain point to become fodder or workers to provide resources for their main party members.

Most students would take this route after dropping out of school. A minority of them with connections could join the government or the military and go to a safe plane controlled by the government or the military to live out their lives.

The outer planes were dominated by Gods, and technology wasn’t that well developed. Divine life was considered the lowest in the hierarchy in the Overworld, but in some planes in the outer realm, they were definitely VIPs. No matter how bad they were, they would be no worse than ordinary people.

This was only for those who would hang around all their lives. However, if someone continued to work hard after dropping out of school, it wasn’t impossible for them to become a demigod or even a True God.

It wasn’t that the Federation didn’t have people who had succeeded in becoming a God by their own efforts after dropping out.
