Chapter 31

I heard murmuring from behind, but no one could ruin my enjoyment.

Initially, survival was the only goal, but that has changed slightly.

With my heart hammering, I tried to relax and opened the door.

As I peered into the air with eagerness, white letters appeared after a little period.

 「A bonus has arrived.」

How much?

How much is it?

One second seemed like ten minutes.

Unconsciously, I clutched my hands tightly and waited for the next notice, as the characters gathered like grains of sand.

「Gold + 60G」

“Oh my God! It’s actually double!”

I just mentioned it, but I cannot believe it has doubled!

I felt like a billionaire when my assets went from 0 to 60 gold.

Until a few days ago, I was a hopelessly fatigued beggar, but today I’m neither tired nor begging.

I have sixty gold!

Now I can buy a pillow with that!

I’m going to play the game very hard.

I’ll play like a pig for Acommz.

Thank you very much!

I wonder if the game developer is from the east, west, north, or south.

Even if it’s a different universe, if I knew, I’d bend down in that way.

Wishing them great life and wealth, I was going to bow in any way when someone tapped my shoulder and passed by.

I had completely forgotten Dolores.

“Look at this! This is my pillow!”

She took up the pillow, carefully placed on the bed, and examined it from all sides before yelling.

I threw aside the satisfaction of successfully doubling my assets and shifted my eyes.

Dolores glared at me, clutching the pillow that had been hers until yesterday.

“Didn’t I tell you? She snatched my pillow.”

Dolores gestured to me and informed the people she had brought with her.

They glared and crossed their arms, exchanging angry remarks.

“Hilda, did you actually steal Dolores’ pillow? Do you realize how hard it was for her today?”

“You were raised in a temple, but did you abandon your conscience there? Stealing like a petty thief!”

“We’ll notify Lady Leticia as soon as the day breaks. How can servants serving the same master trust each other if they have poor tendencies like yours?”

“Please apologize to Dolores straight away! You must recompense her for the restless night you created!”

“Compensate?”

The servants exchanged glances, unprepared for my question.

Dolores, who had been quietly watching from behind, walked forward, appearing annoyed.

“Of course, it’s recompense for being unable to work well because I was exhausted! Give me the sum for the shattered plate and today’s deducted earnings. Otherwise, I will report everything to Lady Leticia!”

“What? So, right now, you want me to pay you money?”

My mood, which had skyrocketed with 60 gold, sank in an instant.

My voice lowered a tone with each word.

Dolores looked at her pals, little flustered, as my expression became ominously furious.

“Yes, that’s correct! The deducted salary and the cost of the shattered dish totaled 60 gold! Give me 60 gold.”

That dot of a girl dared to ask for all of my belongings.

The long effort to obtain these 60 gold coins flashed through my head.

It was primarily about pillows, but it was an emotionally and physically exhausting battle, complete with tears.

Calanchoe, reimbursement for damages, new games, plates, and so on.

Just thinking about that made me feel like there were a thousand fires burning inside of me.

This girl dared to ask for the pay I earned despite such tremendous suffering.

This is how I got these 60 gold coins, and I will not give them up.

Sleeping on Adrian’s pillow, even for a second, resulted in a twofold bonus for my earnings.

It’s obvious that using ordinary or luxury pillows would be difficult.

From now on, I’ll barely earn 30 gold earnings, paid out penny by penny.

But to give away everything I own?

Absolutely not.

I cannot return to the life of an exhausted beggar…!

“Do you have some proof?”

“What?”

“You storm into my room and declare that my pillow is yours, and now you want compensation? You must be really certain to have proof, right?”

My respect and pride…

I can let go of it all, but I can’t stand this compensation claim!

“Proof? How can I show that this is my pillow? Simply by looking at it…”

“Just by looking at it? You can’t be serious about using that as proof to extract money from me?”

“That’s…”

With a single-minded purpose not to lose money, I delivered a logical and common-sense argument that made Dolores’ eyes shake as if there had been an earthquake.

The gang whispered among themselves, as if agreeing, ‘Yeah, that’s a good idea,’ leaving Dolores startled and twitching her lips.

When I learned she had maliciously concealed my pillow, I assumed it was a thing of the past and didn’t care, but now I understand it wasn’t the case.

If Hilda hadn’t been bothered by that little child, the original capital would have been more than 300 gold, right?

It’s difficult to think of the wages I lost due of her, and instead of recouping them, she wants me to compensate?

Is this actually a game?

“Yeah, the saliva stain! This saliva stain is mine!”

In her uncertainty, she glanced at the pillow and smiled triumphantly.

“What? Are you serious?”

Katarina, who had been silently listening, said with a shocked expression.

Actually, there was a really dark stain on one side of the cushion.

If it was a saliva stain, it would have taken a concerted effort to drool solely in that area.

“Dolores, even so, that’s a little…”

Everyone glanced at Dolores with suspicions that she was going too far, but she was triumphant as if she had produced irrefutable evidence.

‘See, if I lie down with my lips open like this, I’ll slobber just around this stain.”

“Are you really saying that?”

“No, that is real; there is my saliva stain!”

When I said this, Katarina turned to look at me.

Her eyes were just as perplexed, and I had long since descended to Dolores’ level after hearing the conversation about compensation.

“I also drool in my sleep. I also leave large saliva marks on my pillow. I am confident that this is my saliva stain!”

“No, that’s my saliva stain…!”

“Can you both stop it? Ugh, this is so disgusting…”

Katarina intervened to resolve the dispute between Dolores and myself over whose saliva it was.

It was a ludicrous fight, but for Dolores and me, it was the most serious and pressing issue at the time.

Katarina, as a senior among the servants, demanded respect.

When she talked, no one could readily dismiss her.

She made a fast turn toward Dolores.

“So you’re alleging Hilda stole and used your pillow. First, you must establish that your pillow vanished. How can we know if you just barged into Hilda’s room and claimed any pillow as your own?”

“Do I look like that kind of person to you!”

“You are not in a position to say that.”

Katarina crossed her arms with a suspicious expression.

“You’ve always disliked Hilda, right? Ever when Hilda entered this house. Wasn’t it you who first messed with the cushion, not Hilda?”

“Hmph! Taking sides simply because you’re close! Okay, let’s go to my room! I’ll prove it if I have to!”

“Dolores, I am honestly advising you to quit immediately. If you back off at this point, we’ll pretend nothing occurred.”

I was honestly trying to counsel Dolores, but she looked at me and sneered.

Her expression approximately translated as ‘If you’re terrified, drop dead.’

Oh, this is why you should constantly strive to be kind-hearted.

When you have a dark heart, you presume that everyone else has one as well, right?

Even remarks said in good faith are interpreted as spite.

“Look! My room! Where is the pillow here…?”
