Chapter 4: You’re Not Worthy of Taking What I Don’t Want

At the mention of Nan Qiao, her third brother, Nan Hao, frowned and replied, “Nan Qiao doesn’t like to eat these. We should give it all to Zhi Zhi. It’s precisely because Zhi Zhi is recuperating that she needs more nourishment.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Nan Qiao walked in and glanced at the cake on the table before quickly looking away.

“Yo, who did a good deed and rewarded you with a slap?” Nan Hao asked gloatingly when he saw the mark on Nan Qiao’s face.

“It has nothing to do with you.” Nan Qiao walked past coldly without stopping.

“Qiao Qiao, come and try Auntie’s new cake?” He Qian called out to Nan Qiao affectionately and asked with a smile.

Nan Qiao ignored her and went upstairs.

Nan Hao bit the cake fiercely. He felt very annoyed. This la.s.s was still so arrogant even after being beaten up. What was this wretched girl so arrogant for?

“Auntie, don’t worry about her. Look at her att.i.tude. She deserves to be beaten up.”

At night, Nan Kang went home and brought Nan Zhi back. The family was chatting and laughing in the living room, especially Nan Zhi, who did not look like someone who had just broken her leg.

Nan Qiao went downstairs to get some water and happened to see this harmonious scene. The smile on her face was full of mockery. Nan Xuan gaze landed on the pear in Nan Qiao’s hand, and she looked back at him steadily.

Nan Qiao’s eyes were very cold, as if they were mixed with ice.

Her skin was originally fair, and she was also slightly pale at the moment. She looked as though there was no color in her face. There were also the red marks left by the slap on her face, which was a shocking sight.

Her dark eyes framed against her pale face was intense as she stared at him, waiting to see what decision he would make.

For some reason, Nan Xuan felt very uncomfortable under that gaze, as if his body was tearing up in halves.

Nan Xuan said, “Let Zhi Zhi have the pear. She broke her leg because of you. Auntie will go and buy more tomorrow. What’s the difference between eating it now and a day later?”

Nan Hao put down the snacks in his hand and crawled over from the sofa to s.n.a.t.c.h the pear from Nan Qiao, but she managed to avoid his grasp.

Nan Qiao, who just stood up, suddenly smiled. The sudden smile puzzled everyone.

Today, whenever she was asked to be nice to Nan Zhi, she acted as if they were asking for her life. Why was she smiling this time?

Nan Qiao then delivered the pear to Nan Zhi personally.

Nan Zhi bared her teeth and reached out to catch it. “Thank you, Elder Sister.”

Nan Qiao’s nails made a crescent mark on the pear. Just as she was about to place it in Nan Zhi’s hand, the corners of her lips suddenly curled up.

“You may s.n.a.t.c.h away the things that I don’t want, but did you think that you can s.n.a.t.c.h the things I want from me?”

Nan Zhi and Nan Qiao shared the same father and they looked a little alike. However, Nan Zhi had a baby face which made her look extremely innocent. Her every frown and smile was pure and flawless.

Nan Qiao really hated to see her smile. She had smiled like this when she took everything away from her.

Nan Qiao then opened her palm and the pear in her hand fell into the trash can.

Her cold eyes were filled with hatred.

“But now, you’re not worthy of taking even things that I don’t want.”

“Nan Qiao!” The whole family didn’t expect Nan Qiao to do such a thing. Her father, Nan Kang, even raised his arm again.

This time, Nan Qiao avoided the slap and Nan Kang’s hand missed.

This sudden change shocked everyone. Nan Kang looked at her in disbelief.

“You want to hit me again? Do you think my mother will regret marrying you if she sees you treating me like this?”

Nan Qiao sneered and returned to her room.

Nan Kang stood rooted to the ground for a long time, still immersed in Nan Qiao’s words.

Back then, Murong Yan was a beauty whose name shook the entire city. When they first met, her every frown, every smile, and every move she made was elegant and moving.

It was that glance that made Nan Kang unable to let go of her.

Only her Second Brother, Nan Jin, was still sitting on the sofa.

Nan Zhi did not understand why.

Her Second Brother clearly doted on her the most in the past, but now, he actually turned a blind eye to her tears.
