Chapter 31 Chapter 31: Lin Xiao’s Gift

200 Lizardman Archers walked out of the portal and lined up in a long formation. He narrowed his eyes to look at the dozens of Lizardman Archers at the center of the formation, who were taller than their fellow clan members and were even wielding larger bows. Under his nose, the dozens of larger Lizardman Archers drew their bows and shot arrows towards the sky every hundred meters apart.

Of course, it wasn’t that they had discovered him and were shooting at him. These were ultra-long-ranged projectiles.

Powerful arrows flew more than 200 meters up and fell obliquely into the crowd of charging Murlocs, stabbing into over a dozen Murlocs right on the spot.

As his Spawn were charging forward, seven waves of arrows rained down in successive, shooting down almost 100 Murlocs midway.

At about 130 to 140 meters away, the regular Lizardman Archers likewise began drawing their bows and shooting into the air. Arrows rained down across the sky. A massive amount of Murlocs were, yet again, shot down midway.

However, none of the Murlocs were afraid. Their firm belief made them temporarily forget their fears, and under the drive of the Naga behind, they croaked and rushed towards the Lizardman Archers.

After decades of constant changes, as the first few generations of Murlocs died one after another, including the Murloc leader that Lin Xiao would use from time to time who died of old age, the newborn Greymist Murlocs had completely surrendered to the might of the Black-scaled Naga. At present, the Greymist Murloc had completely turned into vassals of the Black-scaled Naga. In Lin Xiao’s Divine Realm, the Black-scaled Naga had risen to complete dominance, while the Greymist Murlocs had become servants.

In terms of racial combat power, the Lizardman Archers were definitely better than the Murlocs, but their numbers were simply too many. With the more than 2000 Murlocs projected from the Divine Realm, they were charging in from all directions in a large mass of blackness.

After these Lizardman Archers shot more than a dozen waves of arrows, the Murlocs had already arrived at the proximity of 50 meters. The Lizardmen were still thinking about unleashing another two waves of arrows to open up some distance. They didn’t expect, at that very moment, the Murlocs at the frontmost to abruptly surge in speed, charging across the 50-meter distance in the blink of an eye like Warriors and slamming into the unprepared Lizardman Archers. Being nonplussed for a moment, the Lizardmen were utterly routed.

For Lin Xiao, these two stages weren’t at all difficult. It was simply because he had too many Spawn at present.

Forgetting the Black-scaled Naga, just the Murlocs themselves were more than 2000 in number, and this alone would be enough for him to pass the first three stages.

In less than two minutes, the waves of Murlocs had the group of Lizardman Archers downed.

The second stage… ended just as the first. The Black-scaled Naga, who were the primary combat power of his Divine Realm, didn’t even move.

The few Black-scaled Naga leaders shouted, asking the wounded Murlocs and those exhausted from using Salted Fish Spike to retreat. The other Murlocs gathered into chaotic arrays and stood guard behind the portal, awaiting the third wave of enemies to arrive.

Amidst the void, Wu Hai had just departed one of his student’s semi-planes.

Thinking about the performance of this student’s Spawn, he kept shaking his head.

In terms of strength, the Spawn weren’t that bad. There were almost 1000 Greyskin Frogmen, and many among them were level 1 Frogman Fighters. However, facing an assault of merely 500 Kobolds, the battle seemed so difficult. When the fireballs from the Kobold Warlocks erupted, some Frogmen even retreated in fright.

What did this imply?

It would imply that this student had failed miserably in cultivating the Spawn in his Divine Realm.

The Spawn’s population was good, but they were extremely lacking in faith. In a battle for the God of their belief, there were even those who escaped when the battle was in their favor. In light of that, Wu Hai shook his head.

Of course, with the comprehensive power of this student’s Spawn, he wouldn’t be eliminated, but in Wu Hai’s heart, he could already determine that the future of this student was limited.

As a reserve force of the Gods, the most important thing would be the management of his believer’s faith. For a God, the most important thing was their religion.

If he couldn’t even manage the faith of his own Spawn, how could he conquer the natives in alien planes in the future?

Thinking about this, he couldn’t help but think of Lin Xiao. The Spawn in his Divine Realm were very well managed. All of his Spawn were actually True Believers, and the ratio of Devout Believers and Fanatic Believers was rather high. Forget Wu Hai’s class: even among all the students of the entire year, he would be one of the best.

Although Wan Chuan and Hong Yuan were stronger than Lin Xiao, they weren’t as good as him in the cultivation of believers. In this area, their talents were inferior to his.

In the eyes of veteran demigods and above, the ability to cultivate the faith of believers was a kind of talent, which was classified as a hidden talent.

Knowledge in this area was taught in the school via Theology Classes. Over the hundreds of thousands of years of the Overworld’s history, countless Gods had been born. There were thousands of courses on how to cultivate the faith of believers, and aside from classrooms, there were many materials on the internet which one could access for free. All of these were no secret.

However, even if everyone cultivated their believers according to what was taught in Theology class, with the same method, different students would yield different results.

This was very strange. Many powerful True Gods, including an Almighty Divine Power, had conducted research in this area. However, they found nothing in the end. At last, that Almighty Existence said only one sentence:

“The cultivation of faith is a gift!”

In the eyes of Wu Hai, Lin Xiao’s talent in this regard truly was unordinary.

Thinking about this, class teacher Wu Hai abruptly halted his maneuver towards Wan Chuan’s plane and went in a different direction. He suddenly wanted to take a look at Lin Xiao’s performance.

He remembered that this student of his had performed pretty well in the last placement test. His Spawn were weak Murlocs, but that ability to deliver an extremely powerful burst had left a deep impression in him. He wondered if the boy could continue to perform well in the finals.

In the northern half of the semi plane, a three-meter-high portal stood on the wasteland. As the waves rippled, Pigmen standing about 1.89 meters tall and very strong in physique came walking out from the portal.

The Pigmen were a kind of Humanoid Beast classified in the middle tier. Their individual strength was slightly better than humans but was capped at some point. The strength of the race lay within its powerful reproductive ability. Among Humanoid Beasts, they were one of the best in this respect.

The enemies for the third wave were Pigmen. Due to the massiveness of their powers, there weren’t too many of them compared to the second wave. There were only 300 regular Pigmen and 30 elite Pigman Fighters. However, their combined power was far above that of the second wave.

The threat of this wave was about 70 to 80% of the extra test that Lin Xiao took during the placement test. If he could even pass the extra test, this would be out of the question. The strength of his Spawn now was far stronger than before.

More than 300 Pigmen exited the portal and gathered in front of it. 30 elite Pigmen snarled loudly while raising their weapons, maces, hammers, and even just sticks. Following a simple mobilization, they charged towards the horde of Murlocs.

Above the sky, Lin Xiao, who was enveloped in golden light and could not be seen by mortals, leaned forward and looked down. He held his chin and pondered for a moment, then opened his mouth and issued a Sacred Decree.

The Murlocs that were preparing to countercharge suddenly stopped and swiftly divided. Hundreds of Black-scaled Naga slithered forward wielding Refined Iron short spears. As their lengthy tails swayed, their thick scales were creaking on the sand. Under the outcry of the several Naga leaders, they scattered and charge towards the assaulting Pigman.
