鈥淣o? You guys are going to be husband and wife soon and you鈥檙e not even angry that he鈥檚 clubbing with other girls?鈥?br>
鈥淚 mean I won鈥檛 marry him,鈥?Jeanne said.

鈥淣o buts.鈥?Jeanne did not want to dwell on the topic. She switched the topic and said, 鈥淏y the way, why are you in a club? You鈥檙e married. Shouldn鈥檛 you be a good wife and be with your husband at this hour?鈥?br>
鈥淎 good wife? The marriage between me and Finn is just on paper. We have our own lives, don鈥檛 tell me to be a good lady. Besides, he鈥檚 having more fun than me.鈥?br>
鈥淲hat happened between you two?鈥?Jeanne raised a brow.
Jeanne knew nothing about Monica鈥檚 marriage.

鈥淚 clearly remember when you were in college, you called me and told me you鈥檝e fallen for someone at first sight. Finn ticked every box of your ideal man and you loved him with your heart. Everyone in Southampton knows you鈥檙e the one who chases after him instead of the other way around!鈥?br>
鈥淚 was naive back then.鈥?br>
鈥淪o, you just broke up with him?鈥?br>
鈥淢hmm.鈥?Monica simply hummed a reply.
鈥淪o, what happened? Why did you break up with him?鈥?br>
鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing I can say about it,鈥?Monica stammered.
鈥淢onica!鈥?br>
鈥淐ome on! It鈥檚 almost the same with you and Eden back then.鈥?br>
鈥淵ou cheated on him?!鈥?Jeanne blurted.
鈥淐ome on! What the hell, Jeanne?! Do I look like a horny slut to you?! Am I that cheap in your eyes?鈥?Monica was agitated.
鈥淭hen why did you marry him in the end?鈥?Jeanne asked.

鈥淥kay, stop it. Finn and I are just husband and wife on the paper. We鈥檙e going to have a divorce sooner or later,鈥?Monica said but unwilling to reveal the details.
鈥淚 think Finn is quite okay. There must be some misunderstanding between you two鈥︹€?br>
鈥淵ou saw him a few times and you think he鈥檚 quite okay?! Don鈥檛 let that handsome face lie to you! I was deceived by his polite looks. I thought he was timid and loyal but he鈥檚 a piece of sh*t! A prick! I鈥檇 rather fall in love with any other man in the world than loving him again!鈥?br>
Jeanne wanted to console her friend but Monica lost the interest to continue. 鈥淔ine. if you don鈥檛 want to come, I鈥檒l go have a drink myself.鈥?br>
鈥淭ry to control yourself, okay?鈥?br>
鈥淚鈥檓 not three. Go to sleep. Tell my godson I鈥檒l bring him to a theme park when I鈥檓 free.鈥?br>
The call then ended abruptly.
Jeanne stared at her darkened phone with deep thoughts.
It was her first meeting with Finn during the charity ball last night. However, a few years ago, she received a call from an unregistered number and it turned out to be the man.
During that call, Finn was quiet for a while before he said he got her phone number from Monica鈥檚 phone. He even said that he did not want to call her or trouble her since she was abroad at that time.
Jeanne could tell from Finn鈥檚 tone that the man went through a lot of struggles to have the resolution to call her. He should not be a man who preferred to trouble people with his personal matters.
鈥淪he鈥檚 avoiding me. I don鈥檛 know what to do, so I decided to call you. Can you please tell Monica that I鈥檓 waiting for her in front of her house? I really鈥?love her.鈥?br>
Jeanne had no idea what happened back then. All she knew was that Finn was telling her with a sobbing tone, so she agreed to help.
She called Monica after that but Monica did not pick up. She tried calling for a whole day but it was still fruitless.
Due to the time difference, she decided to call Monica on the second day but before she could, she received another call from Finn again.
鈥淭hank you but you don鈥檛 have to call her anymore. And please don鈥檛 tell her that I called you before.鈥?br>
It was just a night but his tone had changed drastically as if he regarded Monica as a stranger.
What happened next was that Monica announced their breakup, but then they ended up married.
Jeanne clearly remembered that Monica had a few boyfriends after the breakup but she did not have the time to spare her energy to follow up on the matter back then.
Now, she had no idea what she missed.
The problem with Monica鈥檚 love life was not that complicated either.
The woman was sitting at the bar, drinking her cocktail.
She broke up with her ex, ex-boyfriend and got married to her ex, ex-boyfriend again.
As for her ex-boyfriend鈥?br>
Monica chugged down the entire glass of cocktail. She paid and left the club.
It was rare for her to go home this early. She did not want to go back to that man. The man鈥檚 disciplined lifestyle and boring approach to things drove her crazy. She did not want to live like a machine.
Fortunately, a few years ago, Finn cheated on her.
She wandered her way to the taxi and a while later, she returned to Finn鈥檚 mansion.
Monica鈥檚 father bought the mansion but the place was under Finn鈥檚 name. She had no idea why her old man wanted to do that in the first place. How could he treat his son-in-law better than his own daughter?
She put her finger on the fingerprint lock and when she opened the door, she knew the man was already asleep.
It was not even 11 o鈥檆lock at night.
Slightly tipsy, she wandered her way to the bedroom.
When she went in, she saw a naked man before her.
She stared at him and he looked at her.
A few seconds later, Finn, casually and boldly, tied the towel over his waist. 鈥淗ave you seen enough?鈥?br>
Monica regained her composure and her face blushed.
鈥淭here鈥檚 nothing for me to see,鈥?she said in disdain.
鈥淵our room is next door. Don鈥檛 always barge into my room when you鈥檙e drunk,鈥?Finn said coldly.
Monica rolled her eyes. She did not walk into the wrong room on purpose.
鈥淲hen are we going to get a divorce?鈥?she asked.
鈥淲hen do you want to get a divorce?鈥?he asked.
鈥淲hat? You think I鈥檓 too afraid to get a divorce?鈥?br>
鈥淣o. What are you even afraid of? You鈥檙e fearless. You kissed another man right after a breakup. What else can you possibly be afraid of?!鈥?br>
鈥淵eah! At least it鈥檚 after a breakup! It鈥檚 better than some prick who cheated during a relationship!鈥?br>
Finn glared at her.
鈥淪peaking of which, it鈥檚 been a while since I saw that girl here sleeping with you. What鈥檚 wrong, fed up with her already?鈥?Monica teased.
鈥淕et out!鈥?Finn suddenly got angry.
Monica wore a bitter look. She turned around and slammed the door to a close.
She returned to her own room and collapsed on her spacious bed.
鈥楾hat prick! I鈥檒l divorce him sooner or later!鈥?br>
She squinted her eyes.
Her phone suddenly buzzed. She had a glance at the notification.
鈥淢onica, did you know that Micheal is coming back next week?鈥?br>
Micheal? Micheal Ross?
Micheal was none other than her ex-boyfriend.
