Jiang Mingwei could hardly stand the urge to curse at her whilst Wanyan Duo still had her head lowered, appearing docile and courteous, “This Concubine greets Princess An. Mu Mingtang was a little surprised. It seemed like Wanyan Duo was both a very flexible and ruthless person. Jiang Mingwei put on a stiff face, forced a smile and said, “It’s the officials and the Empress who have been benevolent. Wanyan’s position as the side wife represents the peace between the two countries. I am also very flattered to have the officials trust us enough to have her granted to Prince Jin’s Mansion.”

Mu Mingtang laughed as soon as she heard it, “Oh, since you two are so grateful for it, I should relay this grat.i.tude to Her Highness the Empress. This sort of benevolence should be presented more often to you, then.”

Jiang Mingwei couldn’t help but laugh. At this time, a commotion broke out outside the garden. Everyone looked up and found that it was Xiao Siyi who had arrived.

Everyone knew that Xiao Siyi was the prospective 8th Princess. Beirong didn’t uphold strict rules that declared unmarried couples were unfit to meet each other before marriage. Basically, it meant that engaged couples were technically considered husband and wife. Xiao Siyi always pursued Ye Luyan and she wasn’t shy to express her feelings in public either. The people of the Ye Dynasty were also rather used to seeing that scene play out, so they weren’t that surprised either.

Xiao Siyi used to be in close vicinity with Ye Luyan everywhere he went, but she never spoke to the n.o.ble women of the Ye Dynasty. However, she was walking straight to the gazebo, as if she came here on purpose to find someone.

Everyone seemed to have made a correct inference— Xiao Siyi did come here specifically to find someone. She saw Mu Mingtang and her eyes brightened up, heading directly towards her. Everyone realised that the girl was indeed looking for Princess An.

It wasn’t unexpected since this action was within reason. The Empress Dowager Xiao’s niece’s eyes were always set for the skies. Perhaps it was only Princess An in this entire venue who fit the standards of the girl’s piercing gaze.
